  • Working hard and making the most of my time is something that is very important to me. I am always looking for ways to improve my workflow and get more done with less effort and time. I have collected my favorite ways on how to boost productivity and want to share them with you today. These are things I have discovered through trail and error and find to be very helpful.

how to increase productivity : motivation and stationary

1). Create a schedule- and stick to it

Whether you work in an office, from home or someplace else, it is important to have a fixed schedule and to follow that schedule as much as possible. Especially if you work from home, it is vital to have fixed working hours and to plan out your work week before it starts. This way you can reduce stress by planning ahead and keeping an eye on those deadlines.

    2). Combine similar tasks

This tip is one of my personal favorites as it helps you do more in less time. The idea is to group similar tasks together such as: collecting bills (do mind the due date though!) and paying them all at once, prepping your meals for the week, or if you are a blogger eg. doing various photo shoots at once while all your gear is already out.

how to increase productivity : staying hydrated

    3). Drink plenty of water

There is no use in having all the motivation in the world but forgetting to stay hydrated. Not drinking enough fluids can lead to headaches, feeling sluggish and tired, thus diminishing your attention and productivity. Having trouble drinking water? Try these delicious infused water recipes!

    4). Get up early

I know, this one in particular sucks. But imagine how much more you can accomplish if you get up early in the morning! Anything after 7:00am is sleeping in (don’t shoot me!). If you need tips on how to become a morning person, you can find them here.

how to increase productivity : staying organised

5). Surround yourself with things (or people) that motivate you

Eg. a beautiful planner that brings you joy every-time you open it, or a cool potted plant next to your computer. Or even people in your circle that you find inspiring or that always keep you motivated. It might be something else for you, but whatever it is- if it motivates you- it’s great to have it around.

    6). Keep your workspace organized

If you keep your workspace organized, you spend less time searching for things. I did a whole post on how to organize your desk a few months back. You can find the article here.

how to increase productivity : the power of to-do lists

    7). Write a to-do list

Ticking off whatever actions are on your to-do list feels so grand, it will motivate you to get them all done. Keep in mind to write realistic to-do lists in order to not feel discouraged.

    8). Find your own rhythm

Everybody has a different time of day where they are most productive. Some are most productive in the early mornings, while others can work well into the night. Getting to know your own personal rhythm and getting tasks done accordingly will definitely make you more efficient. This can be increased furthermore by tackling those tasks which require the most concentration first before doing anything else.

how to increase productivity : limiting distractions

    9). Eliminate/Minimize distractions

There is a time and place for everything. There is nothing wrong with flipping through magazines, watching a funny cat video or chatting with a friend. It does however become a problem when it keeps you from your work. In order to work efficiently, limit those distractions.

    10). Listen to audio books

You can catch two birds with one stone (or however that saying goes) by combining tasks. I usually listen to an educational audio book while I am cooking or cleaning. Oftentimes I’ll practice my French vocabulary while I’m on my way to work.

I hope you found some of these tips useful and will incorporate them into your day. What motivates you to be productive? Let me know in the comment section down below.
