Packed with carrots, crisp apples and freshly squeezed orange juice, this smoothie will give you the kick you need to jumpstart your day.
After my embarrassing smoothie debacle I had shared with you all recently, I found it was time for a delicious smoothie recipe to erase any memories of the last spontaneous attempt. This time I refrained from throwing random ingredients into my mixer and crossing my fingers that something delicious will come out of it. No, this smoothie was planned out well. I wanted to work with ingredients which really complement each other and I believe I found a good balance here.
Since carrots have a very intensive flavor in their raw state I wanted a sour element to freshen up the earthy taste they have. What better ingredient to add but a crisp, sour Granny Smith apple? The orange juice and honey sweeten the smoothie to the perfect amount, sweet but not overly sweet.
Turning carrots into juice, without any chunks is not something a 20€ blender could probably handle. If you don’t have a high quality blender (I feel you, they are pretty pricey) help your blender out by grating the carrots first to ease the process. If you however cook a lot (thus puree, juice and mix things a lot) I highly suggest investing in a quality blender. I’m really happy that I invested in mine, it has never let me down. It is so strong that it gets even the toughest ingredients blended, and believe me, I love to challenge it. 😉
So get out your blender and throw in these vibrant veggies and fruit and enjoy the start of your day. Breakfast made easy.
