Description
A fun and easy DIY sprinkle candle that makes the perfect birthday gift.
Ingredients
Instructions
- Before starting, make sure your upcycled jars are clean and dry.
- To make the sugar sirup, combine the sugar and water in a pot and cook on medium cook, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has completely dissolved. Do not bring your mixture to a boil.
- Let the sirup cool completely. (You can quicken the process by transferring it to a bowl and then letting it cool in the fridge.)
- Melt the wax over a double boiler (see detailed explanation in the text above), remove it from the heat and let it cool slightly while prepping your jars.
- With a brush, add a layer of sirup to the inside of the jars, leaving out the bottom. Add the sprinkles.
- Fasten the candle wicks to the bottom of the candle jars. Keep them in place using wooden toothpicks or skewers (depending on the width of your jars). Place 2 skewers around the wick and fasten them together with tape.
- Carefully pour in the melted wax and let it harden for at least 4 hours or ideally overnight.
- Once they have completely solidified, trim the wicks.
Notes
*Depending on the width of your jars, you may want to add 2-3 wicks per jar as soy wax has a very high melting point.
I do not recommend using double walled jars as the sugar syrup coating will be a lot more visible.
