I don’t know about you, but the cold temperatures are inviting me to stay in and get cozy… and is there anything more comforting and relaxing than a warm silky bath? Enter these beautiful bath bombs, which are a great tub-time addition and elevate any bath. As a bonus, they also contain health beneficial properties!

The fragrant eucalyptus plant doesn’t just make for a great décor in your home, it is also full of good-for-you ingredients. In fact, the plant is often used for medical purposes such as topical decongestants. Eucalyptus contains the compound eucalyptol, which can decrease nasal congestion and help expand the bronchi. This makes it a wonderful bath addition for anyone suffering from cold symptoms, or simply a stuffy nose.

A little note on the Epsom salt

Epsom salt crystals are quite large in comparison to regular salt grains. In order to create ‘prettier’ bath bombs, without large Epsom salt pieces, I recommend grinding it beforehand. This can be done in a food processor or blender. You can certainly skip this step, but keep in mind that the Epsom salt will be visible.

    Gift Idea

Bath bombs are also a great and inexpensive DIY Christmas gift for friends and family members, who love to take baths. You can package them in glass jars or cardboard boxes filled with tissue paper. If you want to go all out, you could even make several varieties by switching up the essential oils, to create a little bath bomb bundle.

Making bath bombs isn’t difficult but there are a few things to keep in mind. Here you can find a thorough step-by-step guide with helpful tips to ensure, your bath bombs come out great every time.

Using essential oils in DIY skincare

If you are pregnant, nursing or taking medication, it is important to consult a physician before using essential oils. Aromatherapy grade eucalyptus oil is considered safe for topical use only and should never be ingested. Be sure to keep the oil away from children and pets.

    • Yield: 5 bath bombs 1x

    Description

bath bombs with eucalyptus essential oil that can help relive cold symptoms

    Ingredients

    Scale

    Instructions

    1. Sieve the baking sodacitric acid, Epsom salt and cornstarch into a bowl and whisk together.
    2. Mix the sweet almond oil with the eucalyptus essential oil and add to the dry ingredients. Combine thoroughly.
    3. Spray the witch hazel onto the mixture. Use one hand to spray and the other to mix everything together. The bath bomb mixture should resemble crumbly sand and not be too wet. If it holds its shape when you press it between your hands, you’ve added enough witch hazel
    4. Divide the mixture evenly between two bowls. Dye one with green soap color.
    5. Fill one half of the mold with the green mixture and the other half with the white.
    6. Overfill both halves and firmly press together. Hold for a few seconds.
    7. Let the bath bombs harden overnight in the molds. To demold, gently tap the top half with a spoon and remove the mold. Don’t twist as breaks the bath bombs. Then tap the bottom half and remove as well.
    8. Let your bath bombs air dry for 24-48h until they have completely hardened. Store in an airtight container away from sunlight and moisture.
