Description
a delicious and flavourful marinara sauce which comes together in below 30 minutes
Ingredients
- 1 medium yellow onion
- 2 large garlic cloves
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 500g tomato puree (2 cups)
- 1 and 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 1 and 1/2 teaspoons dried basil
- 1/4–1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 1–2 teaspoons of sugar
Instructions
- Chop the onion into fine pieces and crush the garlic cloves.
- In a medium sauce pan, heat the olive oil. Sauté the onions and garlic until soft for about 3-4 minutes.
- Add in the tomato puree and all of the spices. Cook on medium heat for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- If using as a filling or pizza topping, let it cool slightly before adding it to your dish.
Notes
Store in an airtight container in the fridge for about 1 week, or freeze up to 6 months.
