Skincare doesn’t need to be expensive or complicated! This inexpensive powerful diy detox mask with green tea, clay and honey kicks some serious butt! It is incredibly effective at clearing excess oil and acne and leaves your skin hydrated and smooth. Perfect for anyone struggling with acne, oily skin, or the occasional breakout. While it is great at removing impurities and excess oil, it doesn’t strip your skin of its natural oils or dry it out. This also makes it suitable for people with sensitive skin. Make this mask once a week to give your skin an extra health boost. You won’t be sorry!

Confession time. Eating chocolate makes me break out. I have no idea why there is such a strong correlation between the two and believe me I wish there wasn’t, but it’s true. My mother has the exact same thing so I am guessing it might be genetic. Or maybe it’s just the fact that chocolate and sugar are bad for your skin. Whatever the reason, it doesn’t stop me from enjoying a piece every now and then. I am not someone who is obsessed with having a perfect skin. However, beside the occasional zit after enjoying some chocolate or during pms, my skin is rather clear and healthy. I think eating a balanced diet and using natural skincare products has kept my skin so healthy and I definitely take good care of it.

The summer, however, puts an additional strain on our skin. The strong uv rays and the sweat put our skin to the test. I notice that during the summer my skin is more prone to be a bit oily than during the cooler months. So during this time I like to give my skin a weekly detox with this diy green tea clay mask. It has definitely helped me keep breakouts in check and remove excess sebum. Green tea is known to have antimicrobial and antioxidant effects which help fight free radicals that could age your skin. Honey and green clay have antibacterial effects which is why they are great for fighting acne. These 3 natural ingredients combined, make a powerful mask.

    Benefits

    • all natural (no fillers, preservatives, sls,..)
    • simple and easy to make
    • fights excess oil and acne
    • doesn’t strip or irritate the skin
    • inexpensive

    How to make it

You will need 50ml of freshly brewed green tea. Make sure to let the green tea steep for at least 10 minutes so it is very strong. Then add in 1/2 teaspoon of raw honey and 2 tablespoons of green clay powder. Mix until a smooth paste forms. Use for your face, décolleté, back or wherever you wish. Keep it on for about 10 minutes or until it starts to dry. Then wipe it off with a clean cloth and wash your face with water. Follow up with your favourite moisturiser.

For the best results, use this mask once a week.

Hello, do you know how long this mask lasts once made.

I would like to give it as a gift.

Hi Krystal! Once you made the mask you should keep it refrigerated which makes it a bit difficult to give as a gift. I’d say it keeps for a max of 3 days. Maybe you could gift the ingredients separately in a small gift basket?
