Summer Beauty Tips

  • Summer is a great season. It is the time for drinking cocktails on the beach, wearing flowy summer dresses and drinking lots of melon smoothies. It is, however, also the time where your skin is submitted to increased uv radiation, your hair gets submerged in chlorine water and your make up is tested by sweat and heat. Despite that, we want to feel like the best version of ourselves, no matter the temperatures. Therefore, I put together a list of tips that will help you stay healthy and beautiful during the hot months. Enjoy!

Stay cool. While we can be very consistent with our beauty routines and apply moisturizer on a daily basis, we tend to forget the most basic beauty law: drinking enough water. If you have trouble drinking those 2 liters everyday, try switching it out for some infused water. Did anybody say peach, lime and lavender?

Protect your hair. Uv hair damage is a serious thing and isn’t easily reversible so before you go out into the hot sun, spray on some dry oil or hair product with uv protection. Your hair will thank you for it!

Get your glow on! Going out to a summer party and want to add an extra umph to your look? Put some highlighter on the top of your shoulder and collar bone. This will give you an overall healthy glow and emphasis your tan.

Less is more. During hot summer days it is best to put on less product on your face-  the less you wear the less patchy you are going to get. To combat the shine it is enough to only apply powder on your t-zone.

Go waterproof. Raccon eyes just aren’t cute.

Nourish your hair. Coconut oil definitely deserves all the hype it is currently getting. It repairs and strengthens your hair like a dream and best of all it smells delicious! Apply some coconut oil in your hair 1-2 hours before washing it, focusing the oil on your ends. Shampoo twice to avoid any leftover residue. Enjoy healthy hair!

Make it last. Love wearing your favorite scent but hate how quickly it fades on you? Before applying perfume on your wrists, apply your favourite body oil and then spray the perfume on top. This will lock in the scent and make it last way longer.

I hope you find some of these tips helpful and will try them out. Enjoy your summer! XOXO

I love these tips! I live in a hot country (Australia), so in the summer months it can be hard to stay cool and look great. Will definitely try the coconut oil for my hair, great idea!

Well we definitely don’t have your kind of temperatures here (Switzerland). But I’m glad you found the tips helpful!:)

Loving these tips! Highlighting and being glowy is life in the Summertime for me! I love it. I really want to try the coconut oil in my hair as well. My hair gets super dry and I love a good hair mask.

Nice article! I’m going to have to try the anti-humidity spray. My hair and the summer humidity do not agree!!

      • Natanja on 18. July 2017 at 15:30

I feel you! Humidity is a real struggle, especially if you have naturally wavy or curly hair!
